Italian Farmers’ Café on Saline Agriculture was organized
On March 27th, the COST Action SUSTAIN, in collaboration with the SaltyBEATS Biodiversa+ project (link https://saltybeats.com/) that focuses on Nature-based Solutions for salt-affected agricultural lands, organised an Italian Farmers’ Café on Saline Agriculture. The event was held in Alberese as part of the 3rd Training School of the COST Action on “Plant, Soil, and Water Capability Assessment”. It was made possible with the support of Ente Terre Regionali Toscane, a key actor in agrobiodiversity conservation, capacity building, and the transfer of innovation to local farming communities.
This Farmers’ Café served as a dynamic forum for farmers, early-career researchers, and practitioners from across Europe and North Africa to engage in dialogue on the challenges of salt-affected lands. The discussions placed particular emphasis on the potential of halophytes and highlighted emerging opportunities Nature-based Solutions in saline environments.
