COST Academy Webinar: Peer Review: Tips for an Open Research Approach

21 October 2025

The COST Academy will organise an online workshop on Peer Review: Tips for an Open Research Approach in cooperation with Open Research Europe (ORE) to offer additional support to the Young Researchers and Innovators (YRI, under 40 years old) in COST Action networks. The workshop will be organised on 21 October 2025 between 14:00-15:30 CET.
Please feel free to share the information and registration link below with the young researchers in your Action network.

With the shift towards greater transparency in research, many publishers are adopting Open Peer Review. However, the models vary: some make review reports publicly available, others disclose reviewer identities, and some combine both approaches. While OPR aims to enhance accountability and trust, its implementation is not without challenges for authors, reviewers, and publishers.

This 90-minute interactive workshop will:

  • Give a brief history of peer review.
  • Provide an overview of Open Peer Review models.
  • Explore a case study of Open Research Europe’s Open Peer Review process.
  • Engage participants in hands-on analysis of real open peer review reports.

Salinisation, the accumulation of water-soluble salts in the soil, is one of the major causes of soil degradation affecting 833 million hectares of land and 1.5 billion inhabitants worldwide. However, these lands can be used by applying saline agriculture, involving soil, water and salt-tolerant crop management methods.
