SaltWise

SaltWise is a digital platform that consolidates knowledge on salinity and sustainable farming, agroecological solutions including salt-tolerant crops, tools to diagnose and manage salt-affected soils, and a provides a collaborative space for users to share experiences. Its Agroecological Solutions section allows users to find crops suitable for their local environment and climate, while its Library and Forum promote knowledge exchange.

SUSTAIN Database

The SUSTAIN database is an open access database currently being filled with information of promising indigenous and under-utilized crops, salt-tolerant lines and cultivars of different crops, and mapping of potential cultivation areas in Europe and beyond. It is connected to the eHALOPH database and will be further filled and improved during the SUSTAIN project.

Salinisation, the accumulation of water-soluble salts in the soil, is one of the major causes of soil degradation affecting 833 million hectares of land and 1.5 billion inhabitants worldwide. However, these lands can be used by applying saline agriculture, involving soil, water and salt-tolerant crop management methods.
